About the Awards

About the awards

Cheryl and Karl have entered Monreale in the award process being judged at all levels including National and State tourism awards as well as State industry awards conducted by the HMAA Hotel Motel Accommodation Association.

From the Honour Roll you will find that we have achieved outstanding results over the past decade.

Because of our success, we are not permitted to re-enter the awards again for three years, mind you this is a real blessing as putting detailed submissions together does take its toll in a very hands on and time consuming bed and breakfast business.

The tourism and industry specific awards (National awards and State awards), are designed to test a number of factors in a business, the tests designed so that they apply to a large business as well as a small business.

The awards are structured at various levels and cater for all interest groups.

  • Local Regional Awards
  • Victorian State tourism awards conducted by Tourism Victoria.
  • Victorian State tourism awards conducted by HMAA The Hotel Motel Accommodation Association which is both a State and National organization.
  • The National awards which are limited to State awards winners in any one year.

Eligibility to enter national awards

You must be a State winner, all seven State winners compete against each other to be judged the Australian Tourism Award winner.

Local awards are conducted by the regional tourism body for the interests of the local tourism association as a lead in to the much more detailed state awards.
Monreale’s many tourism awards

Each entry must answer a specific number of questions that apply to the business activities that occurred during the financial year under review, and must be presented in a bound submission with no more than 30 pages. Today this is accomplished on line.

During the process the judges also visit the property to ensure the claims made in the submission are true and correct.
